Analyzing Backlinks (Video Tutorial)

*

<—— A quick reminder to Retweet if you enjoy the post … Thanks!

There are so many factors that go into starting and promoting a successful site/blog. If you’ve read my blog for any amount of time (if you’re new to the blog welcome!) then you already know how I feel that keyword research and SEO (search engine optimzation) or two of the most important factors to being successful online.

Whenever I’m doing keyword research I also do some “competition” research right along with it. I go look at the top 5 to 10 results and I “size” them up. One of the things I’m looking for is the number and quality of inbound backlinks to the pages I’d be competing with … make sense?

This video i found on YouTube does a great job showing exactly what I do to analyze backlinks for the pages I plan on competing with and it’s worth the watch.

So … Do you do keyword research? Do you also anaylze the pages that come up first in the search engine results? Do you check the backlinks to those pages? Will you from now on? LOL. Let us hear from you. *SmiLes* Suzanne

You can also use Traffic Travis to do competition research and how easy you get to the top page. It is free so you can’t go wrong. Greg Ellison

    Hi,
Really Informative post. These days, it’s not enough to build a good website; to reach customers online, you have to reach them on their mobile phones.Key word analysis would help web owners in advertising in adwords as well as in other search engine programs that would further increase quality traffic to their web sites. Keyword analysis is one important stride in developing a web page that is sure to have a good search engine ranking. Thanks for sharing video.

Hey Suzanne, very informative video as usual. Interesting that you use Wordtracker as apposed to Google Keyword tool. Is that just a preference or is Wordtracker more accurate?

I always took into account the number of competing websites but looking at the backlinks makes a lot of sense.

By the way, I was approved by eBay. So now what? I’ll have to do some research.
Post idea for you – 1) do you need to get approved for each domain you plan to sell from or can you use the same account id. 2) How do you set up campaigns – if that’s the right term. I’m very green with eBay.

    Hi,
The direct benefit of a high level of external incoming links from quality sites is fairly obvious; the more links pointing to your site from high traffic sites relevant to your niche, the more targeted traffic you’ll see from these referrals. Thanks for sharing video.

This is new information for me. I know that backlinking is important to SEO, but there seems so many secret techniques. And those who know these simple, but crucial techniques are in a much better place in terms of effective internet marketing. I thank you for sharing. This will certainly be useful.

the number and quality of inbound backlinks to the pages I’d be competing with

that is soo true, a must to be paid attention, because some only look at the competition rate (the search results), but when you jump into the ring – those numbers are definitely important.

    Hi Suzanne,

    Interesting post out back links.

One point about back links, the destination needs quality content. It’s great having traffic landing on your site/blog. The problem in some cases, the bounce rate increases if the site isn’t sticky with quality content. I’m learning the hard way with back links! They form part of the SEO puzzle and work had in hand with keeping visitors.

BTW Your content is quality, so enhancing your backlinks :)
