BANS EPN Earnings Update July and August 2009

powerless-or-powerful

Yep … It’s that time … time for me to update you on my BANS (Build a Niche Store) and EPN (eBay Partner Network – eBay’s affiliate program) profits. I last shared my earnings for May and June of 2009 so let’s take a look at July and August of 2009.

My July earnings were $543.28 and my August earnings were $753.46. Once again my ACRUs (commissions for bringing in new eBay registered users) were only at $28/per … so that was a bit disappointing … but I still had decent commissions.

I know I say this on most of these BANS updates but I’ve been very busy and distracted by other things so I haven’t done any work on my sites in several months (actually over a year now) … so the beauty of these stores is that if you do the “work” in the beginning and build a solid foundation with choosing a good niche, good SEO, and content for the site they can provide you with a consistent income for years to come.

If you follow EPN at all I’m sure you’re aware of the changes that are coming down with the new way they are going to figure out commissions and so far I’m not terribly excited about it. For August instead of $753.46 I would’ve earned $304.96 YIKES!!! (you can use your reports to see what it would be based on the new model).

As of this writing I’m at just over $300.00 for September and based on the new commission model I’d be at about $220.00 so not quite as bad but still frustrating none the less.

I won’t jump ship on EPN that’s for sure but I’m sure many others will here soon. Remember to always diversify your income! This is quite possibly my number one rule for making a living online! *SmiLes* Suzanne

Do you build niche stores? What kind? Are you making any money? What are your biggest challenges? Do you have any advice? Do you have any questions for me? Let us hear from you below in the comments.

P.S. I recently purchased the new guide, The Number 1 Way to Make Money Online,” and it’s got a lot of great information in it on how to build eBay niche stores from start to finish. I will be going back and revisiting all of my existing stores and making some changes and then I will be adding at least 5 new stores to my portfolio over the next couple of months.

So far, my earnings for the new system is showing an increase! So that’s cool! I have so many little projects going on, but I really need to build a few more quality stores! I’m waiting on some things to come together and hopefully those will happen soon!

NOW STAY OFF THOSE DIRT BIKES hahaha

Wow! That’s super cool … for you! LOL … jk … I’m happy to hear that it’s an increase for you and I need to spend some time on the the BANS forum and the EPN blog/forum and see what I can do. I have a lot of campaigns set up that I don’t use or hardly ever get traffic and I used as a way to get a one time link out and I think that might be effecting my averages??? If you (or anyone else reading) has any thoughts or insight on this please, please let me know.

As for the dirt bikes … it’s going to be a blast! We got them for all 7 of us (well … still shopping for two more) and we’ll be going to dirt bike parks to trail ride with another family at least one weekend a month in the winter through spring. ;) I wish I’d had my Flip taped to my helmet for my dorky maneuver today! LOL

Hey Suzanne, I still have’nt taken the ebay plunge yet or niche store. But it looks like you’re doing just fine especially if you’re not working on them much. Is a niche store similar to a blog where you really need to add new content on a regular basis to build ranking and traffic.

I did buy the book you mentioned but have not had the time to go through it yet – will do though before I get started with niche stores.

I haven’t added anything “new” to my sites in many, many months. I’m not proud of that BTW … just being honest and my traffic is all organic search engine traffic … each site seems to be favored by a different engine … it’s weird but hey whatever! LOL … Let me know when you get started on it and maybe we can help each other out with it ;) *huGs*

Hi Suz,
I feel that in the current unstable economy, diversification of income is the key to do well, maintain & improve lifestyle. Whatever else anyone is doing, it’s so easy to get replaced by someone willing to provide results for lesser amount. However, what kinda action newbies can start right now to progress?

Hi starting an Ebay store is something I was going to do years ago. But then got side tracked, but after reading this post, it might be an idea to do as secondary income. Do I stay updated with the blog, or is their more information to send me to.

Thanks

Megan

Hi,I am planning on joining eBay’s Partner Network and would like to know if it is possible (and in compliance with eBay’s Terms of Use) to generate affiliate links for specific auctions I would like to feature on my website. In other words, every week I would like to feature 10 auctions of Nike sneakers which are red color and being sold by New York based eBay sellers; so, my question is, could I create affiliate links for such “cherry-picked” auctions? Thank you in advance.what do you think ?

This is really a good earning, if you´re thinking of the usual traffic problems in july and august.

You know, I have a tip.

Using pre owned e commerce sites that seem to have had a specific targeted audience or a targeted type of product pushed seem to work well. Any pre owned sites that have had tons of information regarding something in particular is awesome. I had a site that gave out coupons on purses as they received them. Made bank on that one but didn’t know how to keep it alive. I also didn’t know about SEO at the time.

The other site I had was a site that was a company that did catery in their local town. I turned that site into what seemed like a “We are going out of business kitchenware site.” That banked for a short while as well. Did not know about SEO then either.

However, what I noticed is that if they have had traffic, have good backlinks, and have had good information or have been up for years, these would possible create the fastest short term income for you.

Tony.
