What’s Up on the Blog in 2009?

What’s Up on the Blog in 2009?

I’ve done some soul searching, some brainstorming, and some planning (during my “break”) and I’m so excited about the ideas I have for the blog this year. I do know that my main focus is helping others become successful, and more importantly, happy!

I want to focus on topics that will help others make money. I will share things that have worked for me … and that haven’t worked … so you can learn valuable lessons from both. I will share the day-to-day things I’m working on and especially the little tips and ideas I have and even the problems I run into … with the solution I found (or if it’s not resolved – I’ll be looking for your help! LOL).

Most, but not all, of my readers are fellow bloggers so many of my topics will be about blogging … but I’ll also be showing bloggers how to expand into other income streams too. I’m huge on not putting all of your eggs into one basket and this is especially true online.

Some sections I’m adding to my blog this year:

  • Quote For Today
  •

  • Tips & Tidbits
  •

  • Healthy, Wealthy & Wise
  •

  • Problem ~ Solution
  •

  • New Faces
  •

  • Qs & As
  •

  • Book Review
  •

  • eBook Review
  •

  • Product Review
  •

  • The Home Front
  •

  • Interviews

I’ll also try to do as many video tutorials as possible and I’m going to shoot for adding audio too for those who are good at multi-tasking and want to listen while they work … or workout.

I love making new friends online so be sure to say “hello” either in the comments section or through my contact form.

What do you think of the new sections I have planned? Are there some you’re more excited about than others? Some that sound … boring? Any other ideas for me? I’m excited about this year … so let’s ALL get going! *SmiLes* Suzanne

P.S. I’m spending some time today working on my goals and making my goal/dream board … I’ll post about it here soon!

Wrap Up 2008 ~ Move Forward to 2009

I hope everyone had an amazing Holiday season this year … We sure did and I’m so happy to be back to “work.”

Well … I must say … 2008 was an AWESOME year for me and I’m rolling into 2009 and ready to go crazy!

Everything seems to be falling in place for me and I’m so grateful for the year I had. Life went pretty smoothly … both business wise and personally … and I know 2009 is going to be even better.

As far as business goes … I invested a ton of time and energy into my online education and it was well worth it. I’ve learned so much this past year and I’m truly happy to get up and go to “work” for the first time in ages. I’m even ready to start teaching others what I’ve learned and I want to help as many people as possible become truly successful online too.

I must say, winning Blogging Idol was one of the highlights of my year! There are so many reasons for this but first and foremost was proving to myself that I can do anything I set my mind to … and I’ll be carrying that lesson forward into my future.

Personally, I’m also very happy. The kids are all doing so well. We had a great summer, a great football/cheerleading season and school is going very well for everyone … what more could I ask for?

The best parts of 2008:

  1. We’ve all been pretty healthy and happy
  2. I’ve done well with all of my online businesses
  3. I’ve made a name for myself in the blogging world
  4. I’ve met some awesome people online … and have formed some new friendships out of those connections
  5. I earned the title, “Blogging Idol,” and proved to myself that I could do anything I set my mind to
  6. We had a really fun summer … the best I can remember
  7. All of my kids are doing well in school this year … Yes!
  8. I started playing tennis again … after a long break from the sport

Looking forward to for 2009:

  1. Making a full-time income through my blogging and my affiliate marketing
  2. Teaching a lot of people how to make money blogging through my Blogging for Bucks BootCamp
  3. Keeping all of the kids on track with their grades and their sports
  4. Having another amazing summer
  5. Getting into better shape and maintaining optimal health
  6. Doing some serious goal setting and enjoying life as I achieve (or exceed) my goals (I’ll post them here soon)

I want to take a minute to thank each and every one of you who read the blog and who comment and send me email. It sure makes coming to “work” every day super fun! I look forward to growing the friendships I’ve made and to making many more.

I’d love to hear how your 2008 went and what you have in store for 2009! Did you have a good 2008? What would you have changed? Do you know what you want to accomplish in 2009? Please let us know below in the comments section. *SmiLes* Suzanne

My “Sticktoitiveness” Interview ~ I’m Famous! LOL

*

My “Sticktoitiveness” Interview!

One of my online friends, Soggy Dave, interviewed me for his Build A Niche Store Blog and he posted: “Sticktoitiveness: An Interview With Suzanne Franco” this morning.

Head on over and read about my struggles and successes with my BANS (Build A Niche Store) business and be sure to look around his blog (and even subscribe to his feed) while you’re there. He’s got a ton of great information about BANS and about online promoting … and I’ve learned a great deal of what I’m doing right there on his blog.

Sticktoitiveness: An Interview With Suzanne Franco

Be sure to leave a comment and let me (us) know what you think.

Are you having any struggles or successes with your online business? Has anyone helped you along the way? Do you enjoy helping others with their online business? I’d love to hear from you! *SmiLes* Suzanne

P.S. I’ve used one of Dave’s templates for the last two stores I’ve put up and I honestly owe much of the success of these stores to this template. I have a WordPress blog on the root domain and he has integrated the BANS store into the blog … so the store navigation shows up on the right sidebar. I just LOVE it! He has several different template choices so check out what he has and he can always point you in the right direction if you need help.

BANS (Build a Niche) Profits for August 2008

*

As promised, I am going to post my EPN (eBay Partner Network) stats and profits for August 2008. EPN is eBay’s affiliate program and I’m using a combination of ideas and techniques for making money with their program … but my #1 way of profiting from eBay still remains BANS (Build A Niche Store).

I haven’t spent a lot of time or energy using the other methods because BANS just plain works … but from time to time I will also want to diversify with some other ways to promote eBay auctions.

I put more time and effort into my marketing in August and it really paid off. I also started a new store and it did great! We went camping for the long holiday weekend and I didn’t have access to the internet … I couldn’t wait to get home (once we were driving) so I could check my numbers! OK … it’s official … I’m a BANS addict!

Here’s the breakdown for August – Stats and Profits: 5047 clicks, 8 CRUs, 6 ACRUs, 501 bids, 172 winning bids, bid revenue $693.70, and $150 for the 6 ACRUs … for a monthly grand total of $531.51 (nearly doubling my $269.41 profits for July).

As mentioned, I added a new store in August – so I’m up to 4 stores. Prior to this month my stores had always performed in the order that they were built … but that’s no longer the case. From here forward I will refer to my stores using the alphabet order (A, B, C, etc.) referring to the order in which they were built. Then I will rate them numerically based on their profit performance for the month.

With that said, Store A (remember – first store built) earned $80.97 – making it my #3 store (for profits). This was down substantially from last month (I believe it earned just under $200 last month and has always been my #1 store). This store has fairly seasonal products so I was expecting this somewhat. Of course I thought it would hold out through September but apparently not. I have some ideas in mind to work-around this and I’ll post them as I implement them.

Store B (built second) earned $251.16 and became my #1 store for the month. I can directly attribute this to the effort I put into promoting the store. For some reason Google just doesn’t send me very much traffic for this site and it’s almost all referral traffic from ads and links. I’d really like to work hard at getting more search engine traffic so it will be on more of an auto-pilot some day. For now, I’ll roll up my sleeves and keeping working at it.

Store C (built third) earned $1.75 … you read that right … was (and still is) my #4 store! I have not put much time, work, or energy into this store and clearly it shows! I am still on the fence as to whether or not invest the time into it … but it does have a great Christmas product line so I might just stick it out for the holidays and see how it does.

Store D (built mid-August) did awesome … especially for it’s first (partial) month online … bringing in $191.90 and moving up to be my #2 store! I did spend some time on my SEO and on thinking out and organizing my store pages … but it wasn’t nearly the work as Stores A and B … proving that there is a learning curve to setting up BANS stores and I am growing more and more confident in choosing a niche and setting up and promoting my stores. My traffic was split almost 50/50 between search traffic and the ads I placed. For me this new store was a true success story!

The other $5 bucks came from various links and widgets I have on blogs and sites.

I’ve mentioned over and over that there are two different approaches to the BANS business building model. There’s the method of slapping up as many stores as possible … right “out of the box” without any work or customization or search engine optimization … much less marketing. And then there’s the method I prefer … quality over quantity. I do believe “Slow and steady wins the race.” I just can’t say this enough … so be ready to hear it over and over here on the blog!

My initial goal with my BANS business was to get each of my 3 stores making at least $100/mo. and then start up 3 more stores … wash, rinse, repeat. With that in mind, my BANS goal for August was $400 … and it was an amazing feeling to exceed that goal.

I am also going to start posting my goals here … I think this will help motivate me and will hold me accountable to do the work necessary to hit … or even succeed … my goals.

BANS Goal For September 2008 … I Will Earn At Least $800.00 … On or Before September 30, 2008!

BTW … If you want to meet or exceed your goals be sure to check out “The Magic Words In Goal Setting” and report back here with your goals.

The MAGIC WORDS to Use in Goal Setting

Do you know the “magic words” to use in goal setting?

If you’re reading this blog I’ll assume you have some goals you’d like to accomplish with your online business and I think this will help.

I’ve been in sales and sales management for over 20 years and I’ve done a lot of goal setting over the years. I’ve seen just how powerful it is to commit yourself to your goals – especially when you put them in writing. But be careful, because without using the “Magic Words,” it can be so powerful that it can actually be limiting.

I owned a pager and cell phone company for many years and I can’t tell you how many times we were running around like maniacs trying to get our deals closed on the last day of the month. We usually did hit our sales goal and it was almost eerie how often we would exceed our goal – within dollars of a $10,000 goal! But what I found out years later was that we were actually limiting our success with our word choices.

I can’t help but wonder what our numbers would’ve looked like if we simply changed our goal from, “We are going to do $10,000 in sales in July” to “We are going to do AT LEAST $10,000 in sales in July.” Even more powerful would be, “We are going to do AT LEAST $10,000 in sales ON OR BEFORE July 31st.”

So when you are setting your goals for your business, be sure you incorporate those Magic Words (AT LEAST and ON OR BEFORE) into your goal. Here are some examples:

  • I am going to make AT LEAST $60,000 ON OR BEFORE December 31, 2008
  • I am going to make AT LEAST $5,000 ON OR BEOFRE July 31, 2008
  • I am going to post AT LEAST 30 new blog posts ON OR BEFORE July 31, 2008
  • I am going to have AT LEAST 100 RSS subscribers ON OR BEFORE July 31, 2008
  • I am going to loose AT LEAST 5 pounds ON OR BEFORE July 31, 2008

You get the idea … keep your goals specific yet open to EXCEEDING your goals. Type or write them out and post them somewhere you will see them daily.

A couple of my blogging buddies came to mind while I was writing this post. First, my friend Jay with DatMoney has a goal for his blog and online businesses to make AT LEAST $3,000 ON OR BEFORE July 31, 2008 so please go cheer him on. Then, I’d like to send you over to see my friend David at ProTycoon where he is offering an awesome Blogging Goal Tracker spreadsheet for free.

I would LOVE to see what you come up with for your goals – so feel free to post them in the comments. Sharing our goals tends to keep us more accountable too. It’s also great to partner up with one or two others to help each other stay on track. Anyone looking for a “pace partner” please let me know. *SmiLes* Suzanne
