Earnings / Profits for My BANS eBay EPN Niche Stores – March and April 2010

Well … it’s that time … time to post my earnings for my eBay EPN (BANS – “Build a Niche Store”) niche stores for March and April 2010.

Not amazing … not horrible. LOL. Again, I still haven’t taken the time to try to figure out what they (eBay) is looking for in this affiliate program. I haven’t done anything at all to my stores. I did however do a small amount of advertising on some free classified sites in April and I can see it probably helped a little bit.

Here are the numbers:

March 2010 = 533.86

April 2010 = 672.78

Looks like I’m going to have to do some work on these sites here soon. My buddy, Mark, over at Niche Store Builder posted: ePN Users Pay Attention – Significant Update for You! Yep … EPN making changes for us again. *sigh*

I’ve been very busy working on my SEO/Google Positioning business for offline local businesses and that’s going pretty well. I’ve also started my new site about Fitness at 40 and that’s been a really fun distraction. LOL I’m working out and eating healthy and I’m fully committed to losing all of my extra fat and to being healthy and strong.

Hope you are all doing well with your online businesses. Let me know if you need some help and I’ll do what I can. Also, do let me know if there’s something specific you’d like me to blog about and I’ll do my best to get it up here on the blog. *SmiLes* Suzanne

So … you still a niche store person? Are you still using BANS? How about EPN? Amazon? Let us know what you’re up to and how your stores are performing ok?

Very good on those earnings still Suzanne!

I nudged away from ePN a few months back and will always have the “I Quit” feeling, which I HATE… but just couldn’t take their constant change and fear anymore! LOL

I still have a few residual links to the sites, but put a lot of focus on CPA, Amazon, adsense, etc. Its been a few rough months, but the payoff is starting to show.

BTW – GREAT job on your other site! (Fitness site)

Mark ~ Well I know you aren’t alone … many jumped ship after all of the changes EPN has put us through. I guess since these sites were never my main focus and aren’t supporting me financially I’ve just keep them in tact. I know there are/were many who were making thousands of dollars per month and they relied on EPN to pay the mortgage and bills so it’s understandable that they’d need a more reliable “vehicle.”

I’ve thought over and over about adding a few more stores just to get it up in the $1,000 – $1,500 range but the changes keep coming and I’m not sure it’s worth the work involved. LOL

Thanks for the feedback on my new site … I really enjoy it so that makes it totally fun. I don’t really have a passion for any of my niche sites so that makes the link building/article marketing and such very boring LOL but this one should be a bit easier to manage. ;) *SmiLes*

Yea, BANS/niche sites are not for everyone. I think I’ve done well with them because I spent several months studying SEO and I put in the time necessary up front on those sites.

What have you moved on to? Is there something I can do to help you? Let me know k?

    Hi Suzanne,

Help out a relative newbie to this kind of thing – what is a BAN? The only ones I know are pre-wedding announcements, and something that happened to me a while back when I got a bit loud in a pub! ;-)

Hi Jen ~ BANS stands for “Build a Niche Store” and it’s a product that I used to build some niche stores … stores that are basically set up to showcase eBay auctions for a specific products … so for instance a store on vacuum cleaners … the product makes it easy (easier LOL) to set up the pages and dynamically “pull in” auctions from eBay for the vacuums I tell it to list and when visitors click on the eBay auction links I get paid by eBay.

BANS itself is … hmmm … out of business? or going out of business … or for sale … not sure … so I don’t really refer people to that product … but there are some other great products available if you’re interested in building some niche stores (I wrote about a couple here http://www.suzannefranco.com/niche-store-profits-earnings-september-october-2009-audio/).

Let me know how I can help. *huGs* Suzanne

Personally I use ePN but not the BANS software. I like the way I am able to very quickly fill up a site with “content” from the auctions that can be good for attracting longtail keyword traffic from the search engines.

But earnings aren’t great on a per-click basis so I am slowly trying out different monetization strategies which I hope will earn me more money from the same number of visitors.

well, at least you have a 138.92 increase in revenue for a month, I think that is something you can be naturally happy with, even it’s small it’s still a gain. perhaps you’ll just need a little push to have further progress :)

but as for me, google adsense has still been very consistent (as long as contents are constantly added) and clickbank is definitely a good source as well.

Just try using adsense on your sites that have substantial and very informative contents and insert the ad within the article. the background and border color of the banner should also be matched with the color of your article’s background, as if it was really included in the article. It’s quite effective, as explained by some experts that this method hypnotizes readers LOL. Blog about it once you have tried adsense. I’m pretty excited on how you can make it work in the future. Keep me posted, I’ll be back soon :)

Hi Jorgen ~ Truthfully I’d like to be earning more like 2k/month with the niche stores … so I’d have to add about 5 more stores and do some work (backlinks, article marketing, classifieds, etc) … really it wouldn’t take more more effort … I’m just pulled in so many directions right now (internet maketing A.D.D. – it’s a problem LOL) … how about you? How do you monetize? What are you goals?

        Hey Suzanne –

If the sites you have are well indexed, well traveled, and already doing good, I would dispute what you are saying about adding 5 more sites, and instead, add 5x more of the most popular pages, on the existing sites! :-)

        - Find the most popular and highest earning pages. (Stats vs earnings)
        - Write 5x more of each on the SAME sites (expand on the topics)
        - Link the original pages, to the new ones. (drive more traffic to them)

        :-)

Hi Glyna ~ I’ve been with EPN for a couple years (2 or 3?) LOL I’d have to look it up … and truthfully I haven’t done much with them since I set them up. In the beginning there were a lot of changes and upgrades that went on so that was very disruptive and challenging (I was very new and a total technophobe!) so that’s why I didn’t build more stores than what I have. Let me know if I can help in any way. S

When I first started out online I started with ebay, the problem I had was the whole shipping thing, do they still require you to ship your own stuff or can you sell for other vendors?

As you can tell I haven’t been on ebay for a while, although amazon is working very well for me.

Dana ~ do you have any niche sites? I am very good with SEO and keyword research so I believe that’s one of the reasons I’ve always made money with BANS/EPN. I did some promotion in the beginning (bookmarking, classifieds, etc.) and every once in a while I’ll do some classified advertising. I’m about to submit some articles for each of the sites so we’ll see how that does too. I suggest building backlinks too … directory submissions … Squidoo lenses for some of them … let me know if there’s something specific I can help you with ok?
