Are you using Facebook to market your business? If so, there are some important image sizes / dimensions that you should be aware of.
First, if you post an image on Facebook as a status update (and you REALLY should be doing this since images have a 54% higher engagement than text posts) the optimal size for the image is 404 x 404. I personally love large images on Facebook but you do want to make sure that enough of the image is readable and understandable when it comes through the newsfeed or it won’t be read – much less clicked on or Liked right?!
Second, your timeline cover image should be 851 x 315. You should also note that you are not allowed to have any of the following in your timeline cover image: (1) price or purchase information, (2) contact info, (3) references to user interface elements (i.e. Like, Share, or any other Facebook features), or (4) calls to action. The TOS also state, “covers must not be false, deceptive or misleading, and must not infringe on third parties’ intellectual property. You may not encourage or incentivize people to upload your cover image to their personal timelines.”
Third, your profile image should be 180 x 180. This is a little tricky because even though that is the correct image size it will cut off any part of the image that is larger than 160 x 160. So, try not to bleed the image or any wording all the way to the top, bottom, or sides or it will look cut off. I tend to make my image 160 x 160 and then make a white background image that’s 180 x 180 and then center the 160 x 160 image on it. Then I can upload my 180 x 180 image that Facebook wants and it won’t cut off any of the image or the text.

We’ve toyed around with the idea of making all of our Facebook status updates all “Highlight” so as to make them more pronounced as well as the more easily incorporate large photographs. However, we’re worried that doing so might make our page look too tacky.
What are your thoughts on this technique?

Hello,
It is a very good article on real Facebook photo size. lots of bloggers use FB as marketing policy. But they don’t know the proper size. So sometimes the picture looks big or sometimes look too small. So we need to add appropriate dimension.
