How to Figure Out if a Website is Built on WordPress or Not (Video)

Cool Little Trick to “Spy” on Other Websites! lol

If you’re a WordPress lover like I am there’s probably been a time (at least once) where you saw another site that you really liked and you wondered whether or not it was build on WordPress (WP). Well, I have a quick little tutorial video here showing you how to see it’s a site is build on WordPress or not. You can “spy” on the other site’s code to find out.

Go to the site and “right click” your mouse somewhere on the main or home page. This will bring up some options and then you want to click “view page source.” Another page will open in another browser tab / window and it will be the code source for that page. You then want to click “ctrl + f” (click and hold the ctrl and the f button at the same time) at the same time and it will bring up a page search box at the top right of the page. There you start typing “wp” and it will either have 0/0 results or it will find some instances of wp in the code. Check out the wp’s that are highlighted and most likely it is part of a url for a WordPress theme.
I hope this is helpful!

Great tip! It’s kinda of a negative to use wordpress sometimes since it’s so easier to detect if you’re using wordpress and even what plugins you are using. This opens you up to hackers if vulnerabilities exist.
