LOL ... Well, once I know what others are searching for in my niche ... I want to keep everything consistent surrounding those keyword phrases. This includes on site, as well as, off site. The ads, articles and sig lines all fall into that off site promo. We want to make sure that we are ALWAYS telling the search engines "what" our site is about. The anchor text we use (words that we use to form a hyperlink) hold a lot of weight in telling the search engines what that page/site is about.

You will want to focus your promo efforts on sites (classifieds, forums, article submission sites, etc.) that use a do-follow rule/code with the search engines and then use those keyword phrases as the links back to your site ... as often as possible.

Make sense? *SmiLes* Suzanne

Hi JoJo ~ Thanks for stopping by and for your comments.

I use Google’s AdWords Key Word Tool … but truthfully I do NOT use if for AdWords. It’s a great tool so I use it to help me get a really good idea for what people are searching for in the search engines.

I will then use these keyword phrases for everything from domain names, meta tags (we need to see if you actually DO have access to these), internal linking, inbound linking, social networking and/or bookmarking, writing effective ads, article writing and submission, directory submission … even forum signature lines.

You mentioned that not many people search for “communication skills” (I haven’t checked but could help if you’d like) … so you might look into the words and phrases in areas where good communication skills would be beneficial i.e. marriage problems, boss employee relationship, parent children, etc. People know when they have a problem … it’s our job to show them the solution even if they don’t know it’s better communication skills they “need.” *SmiLes* Suzanne

I am HTML Illiterate and Technologically Challenged. As such I have had an HTML Editor installed on my site so that I am able to update it without waiting for or paying for a web designer because I update my site a few times a week.

My WYSIWYG doesn't allow many of the things required for SEO so I have not pursued it. Not that I understand it at all! I started to take one of those "It's really super easy SEO courses and bombed out my first week.

I am not sure but that might be a reason why our Google Adwords never worked. I have tried to use this tool and thought I came up with some decent keywords, followed the Google instructions but found that each day they would raise the fees for the keywords even though they were relevent to my ad and my site.

I also have a hard time finding good keywords because very few people search for communication skills. If they realize they are vital, they will search for them but most people think speeches and debates are the only communication skills and only search for them if they aspire to be a lawyer or politician. lol

Any advice?
