Link Love

<—— A quick reminder to Retweet if you enjoy the post … Thanks!

Well … I love to read other blogs and I “get to” as many as time permits throughout the week.

I’ve always loved when other bloggers share their favorite posts and I’m going to share mine from this week (they were not all written this week but I just discovered them LOL).

In no particular order:

Comply With the FTC’s New Blogger Disclosure Rules With Amusing Icons

Adam Ostrow wrote a post and included some awesome (funny) icons designed by illustrator, Jeannine Schafer. They are icons/images for those of us who are trying to comply with the new FTC rules. Check them out!

Looking To Get More Twitter Followers? Then Check Twitfever.com

Daniel Scocco, Daily Blog Tips, has a new Twitter tool (Twit Fever) that will help you get new (targeted) followers. It has some awesome features including: multiple account management, follow from profile tool, auto follow tool, mass unfollow tool, auto tweet tool, retweet club, statistics, and more.

I’m currently trying out the tool and I’ll be doing a full review here soon.

Why I Created My 100 Fresh Blog List of CommentLuv for Daily Comments?

I ran into an awesome list of blogs written by Hesham, Zebida.com, where he’s outlined blogs that use the CommentLuv plugin. I honestly didn’t even know I was on the list LOL … but I am and I’m thrilled to be there.

How Much Did We Make on Amazon This Month?

I read this awesome post by Wanda and Paula, AffiliateBlogOnline.com, where they discuss their decision to integrate the Amazon affiliate program into their niche stores and they are kicking ass with it! This really motivated me because I’m just getting started with Amazon now that my eBay earnings are headed south.

This is a must read for affiliate marketers!

I AM NOT HAPPY AS I CLOSE MY DAY!

Well, I was saddened to read Ginger’s post on AttentionTargetShoppers, where she posted about how her BlogSpot blog was flagged as spam and could be shut down by Blogger. I have never been a fan of using a hosted/community blog service for a business blog and this is a perfect example. She posts awesome coupons and shopping help so at her busiest time of year it’s natural she’s going to post more frequently … this should NOT cause her to lose the blog she’s worked so hard on over the years. I will reiterate … BlogSpot/Blogger and WordPress.com blogs are great for hobby blogs …  but not for business!

I’m so sorry this happened to Ginger and I’m happy to see that she’ll be moving over to a self-hosted blog (UPDATE: New Blog: http://attentiontargetshoppers.com/).

Do you do any link love type posts on your blog? As a reader do you find them helpful and/or interesting? How was your week? What do you have planned for next week? *SmiLes* Suzanne

Thanks for the link love. I am glad you are sharing what happened with me because it is typical of what can happy a) to anyone on blogger b) to bloggers who start out without a clue as to the ins and outs of blogging and all that THAT can imply.

I started with the idea that I would use everything free I could get my hands on and then upgrade if the blog went well. So while I had planned on making the upgrades, I had NOT planned on doing it during the busiest time of the entire year. I hope that others will learn from my drama and protect themselves.

We are all probably guilty of NOT backing up our hard drives much less our blogs. I hope that everyone will take time to do backups, run scans and be aware that this is the exact time of year that you do NOT want problems not only with your computer but with your blogs.

My last hurdle is to get my email feeds and RSS feeds straightened out. It is the worst problem I’ve had in the move and I’ve got some professional help with it right now working it out.

Again, thanks for the link love and for helping me get my new location published.

    Ginger

Hey Ginger ~ Again, I’m so sorry this happened. I know you don’t want to hear it right now but as you know … everything happens for a reason and I believe your site will be even more successful. Hopefully you’ll get the response there … so do not let that site get taken down whatever you do. Leave it there and simply link to the new site. There is actually NO problem with publishing on both sites (despite what you hear) so that’s an option too that only takes a few extra minutes each time you post. Let me know if you want to hear more about this.
You are welcome for the “Link Love” and I really want to see you succeed with this new site! *huGs* Suzanne

Thanks … I see people talk about moving a blogspot blog to wordpress and how you MUST make sure you get rid of the blogspot blog due to duplicate content and this is simply not true. Duplicate content pertains to the same content on the same DOMAIN name. It is difficult to get people to migrate over from one blog to another so I wouldn’t risk losing those people who forget, don’t get it or whatever … so I wouldn’t shut down the blogspot blog whether you’re updating it or not. When I purchased one of my online businesses it came with a blogspot blog and it hasn’t been updated since like 2005 or something … and I still get decent referral traffic from it to the “newer” site.

As I generally make sweet FA with Amazon, I reckon I should check out Wanda and Paula. Seeing as how they’re Aussies, I think they’re Aussies, maybe I’ll get the gist of what they are saying. ;)

I feel so sorry for Ginger, and like you I recommend every chance I get that people host their own blogs.

Yes, definitely check out the post … we’ll have to get them to tell us exactly what it is they’re doing on these sites LOL. I’m glad Ginger has her new site up but it will be quite a process getting people to move over … I hope it goes well for her for sure.

How is it possible to make any money with 4% commsission + $100 minimum check (no paypal) pay out. I like many others (Great Lisa Irby, for instance) just use Amazon on LAST CASE scenario, since they pay so low.

Avraham ~ Well … I too have stayed clear of Amazon all these years but I’m hearing more and more that they can be a great payout. A few things to consider … first of all (and most important to me) is their huge selection of products and almost unbeatable prices … which is best for my readers/visitors, second their commission is on a sliding scale based on sales so the better you do with them the more you make. Just like any other products/service … if you’re simply going to throw up a few links/ads you’re not going to do very well at all … but if you really take the time to study the methods and do what it takes to drive the traffic and encourage the clicks/sales I think Amazon is well worth it. I hope it’s true since I’m integrating them more and more for my stores. ;)

Thanks for adding a link to our Amazon post Suzanne…it’s much appreciated.

In reference to the Amazon commission of 4%, we had the same concern which is why we didn’t use them to start with…big mistake! We didn’t realise that the commission goes up with the more you sell. You only need to sell 6 items and the commission moves to 6%. Last month we hit the 8.25% rate and this month it’s looking like we may even hit 8.5%.

Amazon just converts really well and it works extremely well for us as you can tell from that blog post.

I like the site about Twitter. I know this tool is not so completely new, but I still had no big contact with it. And as much as I appreciate existence of social networking sites Twitter is something different for me. I see it exactly as a tool that gives web marketers possibility of making their blogs more popular.
