Promoting & Selling Affiliate Products ~ A Successful Day!
Even though I promote and sell affiliate products here on the blog today was my first attempt at choosing an affiliate product (well … two actually) and using the skills I’ve learned to promote and try to make some sales.
Well, I’m happy to report that after the work of researching, selecting and promoting I made 2 sales within my first 3-4 hours! My commissions were just under $50 bucks! I used free methods to promote … so that’s all profit.
I’m sorry but I won’t disclose the products I chose or the exact methods I used to promote but I will say it was “easy” and it didn’t really feel like “work” to me.
With that said, I believe the trick to making affiliate marketing work (for me anyway) is to choose products that I’m somewhat interested in myself. At least interested enough that I can write about them easily and without feeling “put out” to do so.
The next time I commit some time to these same two products (busy with kids, football games and weekend family time) I will just continue to add to my marketing methods and I believe I will make even more money as time goes on. My favorite methods to promote are: classified ads, article submission, blog posts (I have several blogs), Squidoo lenses, and Hub Pages. I personally don’t do any PPC (Pay Per Click) advertising, or any other paid advertising, and right now I prefer the free methods. The only exception is that I have a paid account with US Free Ads and I use them for the backlinks and the traffic.
If you haven’t tried promoting and selling affiliate products my advice is to just jump right in there and give it a shot. I don’t know what I’ve been waiting for but I guess fear of failure was holding me back. I finally went for it and I couldn’t be happier with the outcome … I hope you’re do the same.

I’ve tried clickbank and either I’m not going at it the right way, or just not choosing the right products to promote. Have not made any money so far, and I’ve advertised on several free classified websites. Any suggestions? Thanks.
@not having much success ~ I’m sorry to hear that and I’ll help in any way I can! Do you have your own site or blog? If money’s tight and you can’t swing that right now … I would suggest using Squidoo (http://www.squidoo.com/lensmaster/referral/wahm-suzanne … <——– please use my link LOL) to get started. You can set up the lenses for free and they are very easy to use. I haven’t done a tutorial YET but there are some great ones on the net to learn from. I feel the best way to sell the affiliate products is through a blog/site of your own … (or a Squidoo) where you can write about the product in your own words and then send them to the clickbank pitch page. I also have not had any luck with CB. I have two blogs so far with adsense but would like to add something from CB. I have emailed 8 different product sites that I think would tie in great with my blogs but have heard back from only one in two weeks.Is CB current? To me, it seems that all the pitch sites are dated 2002-2005. I haven’t seen any 2008. Thanks,

@ terry ~ well, I haven’t checked on that … but I will only promote products that I’ve used … or someone I personally know has used and has giving me a raving review. I only feel comfortable selling and representing something that I would personally spend my money on … or I would sell to my own mom or family member. I have some other online businesses and I get emails from time to time asking me if I have an affiliate program. Unfortunately I don’t but I’ve checked into it several times and I hope to soon … I have saved all of the emails so I can get back to those who inquired and see if they’re still interested.
