Why Use Social Bookmarking Sites?
Using do-follow social bookmarking websites to bookmark your sites and/or pages on your site will create important backlinks … and you can really build up a lot of great backlinks over time. I tend to check the page rank for the sites so I know which ones are the most important to use … but using as many do-follow sites as possible is the best idea.
To make sure you take advantage of the do-follow benefits make sure you mark all of the bookmarks to your sites as “public.” That way Google can “follow” the link to your site and give you credit for the backlink.
Do this every time you have new content or posts and you will have some really great “high PR” backlinks before you know it … and Google seems to be really impressed with backlinks these days … so be sure you make the time for it!

Hi … My name is Suzanne Franco (Land) and I’m a wife (newlywed actually) and mother to 5 amazing kids (my 3 and his 2 – ages 9 to 16) and we live in the Texas Hill Country where we try to spend a lot of time in the water (river, boating, wakeboarding, the beach, etc.) and running from one kid’s sporting event to the other (mainly football, cheerleading, and soccer).

Using Social Bookmarking sites is a great tip, and one that I have heard og before. I have been lazy and not submitted my sites to any but it does seem to be important especially for getting backlinks.
I gotta tell you getting backlinks is one of the most tedious things to do in internet marketing. Do you know of an easy way or is it just a matter of ” nose to the grindstone” kind of thing. I ma hoping to start applying this to my BANS sites as I am having some success but not as much as I think I can have with more backlinks.

Yes, I also bookmark the page that contain the 30 do follow bookmarking sites. I saw in Wikipedia that Furl is using the ‘nofollow’ tag, is this for real?
Wow. There is a lot of info on here about social bookmarking . . . within the past 3 or 4 posts! I started doing social bookmarking a while ago, and was trying to find some BASIC information about it, and everyone sort of had all kinds of convoluted information about it. Hello Suzanne, how are you? I tried your tips and submitted some of my posts in bookmarking sites you mentioned but they are not still crawled by Google. I checked this by searching the URL in Google. Do you know why?

I recently started using Social Bookmarking sites to promote my websites and have found your list of 30 Social Bookmarking sites very useful and, as you know, I have added a few to that list.
I just wanted to report that I am starting to see some benefit from this, with backlinks starting to show and better placement in the search engines. I even have a backlink from Digg.com which is a “no follow”, so not quite sure how that happened. I tend to use Digg, Del.icio.us, Propeller and Stumbleupon to get a page indexed quickly and then I use the “do follow” sites for backlinks.
I have also noticed that both Google and Yahoo index pages that I have bookmarked on mister-wong.com (PR
and spicypage.com (PR 4) within a matter of hours – so I get into the search engines very quickly and a high PR backlink at the same time – what could be better! lol.

Listen gang ~ backlinks are a very important part of your marketing campaign and it should be something you work into your routine. If you just don’t have time to do this you can always hire someone (digital forum) to do it for you … just make sure they have good feedback. I just discovered social bookmarking and I must say it’s really a great source of attracting more visitors and creating valuable backlinks that Google will like.
